MIRPURKHAS Dec 29. Project of rehabilitation of irrigation channels that have farmer organizations of Nara canal under the world bank funding has been launched as first of all 100 such irrigation channels had been chosed and process of the project “water sector improvement project WSIP-1” of Sindh irrigation and drainage authority SIDA was underway with full swing, while added that this project has age of 5 years. This was stated by Engineer Ghulam Mustufa Ujjan, deputy general manager of the project, while talking to the local news man here on Wednesday. He said that aims of this project were to rehabilitate the water channels with quality work and according to standard and also empowering the local growers and decentralization of the powers. He further said that under this project work of rehabilitation of channels, earth work, desilting , Jangal clearance, repairs of modules , rehabilitation of head regulators , construction of village road bridges and foot bridges , construction of washing Ghat for women, buffalows vallows and construction of offices of farmer organizations. He said that concerned farmer organizations would supervise or execute the rehabilitation work of those water channels that allocation had been made till RS 80 lakhs while SIDA officers and engineers would execute the work with allocation of over RS 80 lakhs of the water channels. He said that first of all supervision and execution work of 3 water channels Karna, Boilo and Kandiaro minor of Thar canal had been handed over to concerned farmer organizations as signatures ceremony on the agreement was held at Mirpurkhas on Dec 14 in which office bearers of concerned FOs and managing director SIDA Mohammad Ahsan Leghari made signatures on the agreement. He told that concerned FO have also been opened their bank accounts and now they were hiring engineers and accountants for starting the work on the site. He said that  process of this project of 28 water channels with allocation of fund about RS 12 crors have also been initiated through national bidding as letters to concerned contractors have also been issued for starting the work on site. He told that among 28 water channels, 5 channels belong to Mithrao canal, 18 belong to upper Nara canal and 5 belong to Jamrao canal. He said that site work would be started at channels during the annual closure of the Nara canal for desilting and repair purpose to be scheduled on Jan 6, 2011.He said that it was the comprehensive project for improvement of irrigation system and success of this project mostly depend on the farmer organizations as they would be independent to work freely without any intervention of the officials. He said that offices of farmer organizations would be constructed and furniture will also be provided to run matters of channels properly. 

MIRPURKHAS Dec 29. Dandi cut longi chili rate has been increased due to less arrival of the production in the Kunri Chili Mandi that was the biggest chili market of the country. Report received that some days ago, rate of Dandi cut Longi chili was RS 7500 to 8000 per maund but owing to declining of the production of Chili its rate has been suddenly increased till RS 9500 to 9700 per maund. Mohammad Mubeen, shopkeeper of a chili shop of Kunri chili Mandi told this scribe that owing to less arrival of chili in the Kunri chili Mandi prices of the Longi chili that was a unique quality of this region has been high . He said that in present season daily 3000 bags to 4000 bags of Longi chili were arrived daily in the market that was less arrival while last year 8000 bags to 10000 bags were arrived daily in the local market . He said that Longi chili crop was arrived in the Kunri Mandi from Shadi Palli, Kot Ghulam Mohammad, Umerkot, Jahiro Farm, Nabisar, Samaro, Kunri, Dhoronaro, Mithi, Digri, Jhuddo , Tando Jan Mohammad, Naokot etc. Chili grower of Kunri taluka Mian Mohammad Saleem told that owing to heavy rainfall chili crop was adversely affected even it was damaged badly as result its production in this region was reduced that affected its rate as result its prices have been very high , however, he said that National level companies were buying the Longi chili from Kunri chili Mandi to run their factories and its less production will affect the whole province particularly. 

MIRPURKHAS Dec 29. A youth was seriously injured when a poultry farm owner allegedly opened fires upon him near Ummehani town, in front of Sattari cotton and ginning factory in the limit of Satellite town police station here on Wednesday. Report said that Abdul Rahim Pathan along with his friend Ghulam Rasool was on his way that a dog of poultry farm disturbed Abdul Rahim Pathan and tried to bite him on which he exchanged hot words with owners of the poultry farm while in reaction Mohammad Yousuf, poultry farm owner allegedly opened fires as result he sustained two bullet injuries , rushed to emergency of civil hospital where he was provided first aid and then shifted to male surgical ward of the hospital. Doctors said that his condition was out of danger. The accused fled away from the spot after this incident. Satellite town police have lodged the case of attempt to murder under section 324, 504 and 34 PPC against the accused Mohammad Yousuf and an unknown on the complaint of Abdul Hakeem Pathan, father of the injured youth. However no accused was yet lodged till filing of the news.

MIRPURKHAS Dec 29. A private dispenser Moti Ram Kolhi was going towards his private clinic on his bike from Old Mirpur here on Wednesday morning that he was disappeared suddenly and his bike was recovered from saline drain, in the limit of Dilber Maher police station. Learnt that he was kidnapped by three unknown armed bandits in a car near village Shah Bux Leghari at Sindhri Mirpurkhas road. SPO Sindhri Pir Allah Rakhio Qureshi told that his relatives and police were searching of the missing above person and it was not confirmed that he was kidnapped. He said that no case of this incident was lodged with concerned police station sofar. 

MIRPURKHAS Dec 29. SPO Sindhri Pir Allah Rakhio has said that Hindu businessman Ajay Kumar who was kidnapped from Samaro Mori stop near Hingorno town a week ago has been recovered after encounter of phuladdyyoon police with dacoits in forest near Girhor Shareef. Talking to this correspondent here on Wednesday, he said that he had been kidnapped by unknown dacoits while during this he also approached to his friend and his father on cell phone. However, he said that on a tip off, heavy contingents of police surrounded the suspected area and after brief encounter, dacoits fled away to leave the hostage Akay Kumar. He denied of paying the ransom for his releasing.
