MIRPURKHAS Nov 8. Hundreds of traders, civil society people, and citizens under the banner of All Anjuman e Tajiran Mirpurkhas have held demonstration here on Monday at Market chowk to protest against the growing crime including dacoities and theft and deteriorated law and order situation in the city. Protesters led by Haji Akhlaque Ahmed, Amin Memon and Aftab Qureshi, carried banners and placards raised slogans against the police and district administration and blocked the main M.A.Jinnah road as result traffic was suspended for two and half hour. Heavy contingents of police were present on this occasion there. Speaking at the protesters Haji Akhlaque, Aftab Qureshi and Amin Memon have accused that dacoities and robberies have become common in the city and during last few weeks robberies and dacoities had been committed by unidentified armed persons in grain Market, Sarafa Bazaar, Drugs agencies, mobile shops etc, while various traders were looted at public places in bright light, but deplored that DCO Mirpurkhas Zulfikar Maher was paying his silence role instead to nab the involved culprits. They strongly condemned the police for its completely failure to provide protections to lives and properties of the citizens  even dacoits had looted Ali Jan Bhatti, chief editor of a local weekly Sindhi newspaper in his office in front of taxi stand, they alleged.  They accused that police instead to arrest the culprits roaming openly in the city, disturbing and irrespecting the peaceful citizens on the name of vehicle checking in the city. They demanded the Sindh chief minister, Governor Sindh and other authorities to replace immediately the inefficient DPO Mirpurkhas and appoint the sincere and honest police officer to curb and control the growing crime in the city. Later, DIG Mirpurkhas Rasool Bux Sand has contacted the leaders of the protesters on cell phone and accepting their genuine demands invited them in his office on Tuesday after which they dispersed peacefully.

MIRPURKHAS Nov 8. Deputy General Secretary of PPP district Mirpurkhas Jahangeer Mughal, who had died of liver and heart failure on Monday evening was laid to rest among thousands of mourners in the local graveyard near Tandoadam road on Monday night. Report said that Jahangeer Mughal had been performed his services in past as president Sindh Peoples students federation district Mirpurkhas, was also facing different diseases including Hepatitis C and he was on bed rest for last few weeks. Thousands of people including Federal minister for culture Pir Aftab Hussain Shah Jilani, office bearers of PPP district Mirpurkhas, workers, office bearers and leaders of different local political parties have attended his funeral. 

MIRPURKHAS Nov 8. Various employees of Hesco Mirpurkhas division residing in Wapda colony Mirpurkhas have accused of using substandard materials in construction and repairs works of quarters of Wapda colony Mirpurkhas. In a joint statement issued with their signatures employees Amanullah Khan, Qari Iqbal, Basheerdin, Fareed and others accused that for last 5 months works of repairs of the quarters of the Wapda colony Mirpurkhas was continued by using substandard and dismental materials . They point out that pipe for drainage were being laid 2 feet high of gutters as result sewerage water was entering into the quarters instead of discharging in the gutter. They lamented that there were to be constructed the new roofs of quarters in the project but contractor was repairing the roofs with substandard materials. Instead of concealed fitting of electricity, open fitting of electricity was being made with substandard materials. Cement ratio was being used less than principal of construction and no work of welding and gates was being made while behave of the contractor towards employees residing in the Wapda colony was not proper. They called upon the higher authorities of Wapda to take immediate notice into this matter , order an impartial high level inquiry, work be made proper according to standard and project and save the Wapda money from being wasted. 

MIRPURKHAS Nov 8. Cotton crop rate has been increased as cotton ginners of the district Mirpurkhas were offering to growers RS 4400 per 40 kilograms while arrival of the cotton crop in the total 16 cotton ginning factories of the district was sofar less than last year. Report said that there were total 16 cotton ginning factories in the district including Sattari, Amual, Pehlomal, Sultanabad, K.K, Memon, Hinglaj, Mehran, SLD, Lal, Parsanna, Aeshoreabad, Royal, Noor Shah, Parsanna Gold and Zamindar. According to agriculture department Mirpurkhas cotton was sowed this year at 34000 hectors than last year 40000 hectors in the district due to acute shortage of water at the time of its sowing. However, according to district agriculture extension department Mirpurkhas, total arrival of the cotton crop this year in Nov month 3188779 Maunds, total cotton bales pressed sofar 270950 while in month Nov last year cotton crop was arrived at the cotton factories 3376372 Maunds and cotton bales were pressed 269298. The last year cotton rate was offered to growers by mill RS 1850 per maund. It may be recalled that despite less sowing of cotton crop in the district its rate was being offered to growers reasonable price because of shortage of cotton crop as cotton was sowed less areas owing to acute shortage of water and many its quantity was damaged also during heavy rainfall in the district. 

MIRPURKHAS Nov 8. One more sugar mill has been started its crushing on Monday morning in the district. Report said that some days back, Mirpurkhas and Al Abbas sugar mills had been launched their crushing season while another Tharparkar sugar mill has also been started the crushing season . Sources said that Digri sugar mill will start its crushing after Eid ul Azha. When contacted administrative officer of Tharparkar sugar mill, Ch Ashraf Arain told this correspondent that in morning crushing was started by his mill in morning and we are crushing the cane slowly as sugar cane crop was not reaching in the mill in required quantity. He added that his mill was offering the rate RS 150 per 40 kilogramme to the growers. He said that indents to landlords and growers had already been issued for harvesting of the crop in speed and supplying to mill but less quantity of cane was reaching sofar as result we are unable to keep crushing of cane continue .
