AS Dec 26. Security has been high alert in the district in the wake of suicide bomb blasting in Peshawar, Rawalpindi and other areas of the country particularly in Moharram month. District administration Mirpurkhas has been made fool proof security arrangements to ensure safety of participators of processions and Majalis even citizens on Ashura. Police and rangers personnel have been deployed in the way of processions of Matami, Tazia etc to be taken out from Imam Bargahs and Azakhana. About 53 processions of Matami, Alam, Tazia etc would be taken out from 59 Imam
Bargahs in the district. . About 8 watch tower has been established and 22 close circuit cameras were installed to monitor the positions of the processions, their participators and law and order situation. Report said that security arrangements have been finalized for 9th and 10 th Moharram on Saturday. About 15 places of the district and 11 places of them of the city Mirpurkhas have been officially declared sensitive. Over 1200 police Jawans and over a hundred rangers’ personnel were deployed at Imam Bargahs and Mosques to ensure safety of the people. Besides this, patrolling of rangers and police was continued in the city as well as in the district to avert any untoward incident. Police control rooms have been setup in the offices of DIG Mirpurkhas zone and DPO Mirpurkhas. DPO Mirpurkhas Muneer Ahmed Shaikh told the newsmen that parking of the vehicles would be made away 200 yards from the religious places and Razakars would fixed the special cards of administration incase of their duty during Ashura. He further said that strict implementation is being made on the manner of discipline sothat no any sect might be hurt and nobody will be allowed to take law in their hands. He said that 14 member’s religious peace committee had already been formed on district level with reference of Moharram. On the other hand, citizens have criticized the unnecessary security arrangements in the city causing difficulties to the people.MIRURKHAS Dec 26. Christian community have celebrated Christmas here also like other areas of the country as special prayers were held in morning of Friday in various Churches as Saint Michal perish home, Saint patras, Saint Teresa, Saint Anthony church, Seven day Church, Church of Pakistan etc situated in the city. Christians including women and children participated in the prayers. They exchanged gifts and cutted the cakes at different places. Younus Ravi advocate, general secretary Saint Michal Perish council told that male and female cricket tournaments were held here on this occasion in the leadership of Father Yaqoob Jim. He further said that Christmas Mela was held at Saint Michal perish Church on Saturday in which different competitions of women and children were held, while the children and women enjoyed with Mela.
