MIRPURKHAS July 18. Speakers in a seminar stressed need to strictly check out the disaster contingency plan of the district prepared by district administration while ensure also implementation on it strictly as well as masses should be aware of the plan. A day seminar on the topic of status of contingency planning in district Mirpurkhas was organized jointly by participatory development initiatives PDI and Oxfam at local hotel here on Wednesday. Additional deputy commissioner Mirpurkhas ii, Agha Nabeel Akhtar said that natural disasters increasing in the world as recently different countries were already facing flood and other kind of disasters. He expressed that there were different causes of disasters including increasing temperature of earth and melting of ice of mountains. He told that state was help within its resources to the disaster victims while provided infrastructures, constructions of dams, roads, electricity, food etc. However all the masses should be aware already the risk of disaster and face bravely any disaster by adopting precautionary measures. Inamullah Khan of Save the children NGO, said that sofar breaches of LBOD drains could not completely be plugged by irrigation drainage department in district Mirpurkhas and district administration should provide correct map of district Mirpurkhas for preparation of any kind of plant . He said that 40 raise platform were being constructed at different places to save the masses from any flood condition by Save the children while raises schools were also being provided facilities including bathrooms, drinking water etc sothat in future IDPs could get basic facilities in flood camps . Director Jagirta organization Khalid Babbar said that district administration did not take into confidence to the masses and civil society in preparing the contingency plan of the district while he expressed his grievances regarding ongoing desilting work of LBOD drains and Natural ways of water. Ameer Ali Shar of Bhandar Hari Sangat alleged that mostly administrative officers were corrupt and they were unable to implement on contingency plan with sincerity while stressed need to own the problems even on village level to face any kind of disasters. He further said that people should themselves act for their safety during any disaster. Research officer of PTI, Mohammad Saleem Abbasi said that government had prepared contingency plan but there were some mistakes as did not show allocation of budget etc while local last year flood affected people were not aware of it. District officer social welfare Khair Mohammad Dahri, Qamaruddin Shaikh and others also spoke.

MIRPURKHAS July 18. A man was gunned down by armed persons over old enmity while a married woman was axed to death by her husband in Karokari in the district Mirpurkhas on Wednesday. Report received that MST Dilli Nohani, 26, was axed to death by her husband Fateh Mohammad Nohani in KaroKari at 32 mile Mori near Digri town. Her body was brought at taluka hospital Digri for legal formality while murder case was lodged with Digri police station on the complaint of Janib Ali Nohani, brother of deceased woman against the accused Fateh Mohammad Nohani, who was later arrested by Digri police.
In another incident, Gull Mohammad Khaskheli, 45, was axed to death by armed unknown persons in Phuladyyoon town, while the accused fled away from the spot. Body of the deceased was brought at Phuladyyoon hospital for post mortem by Phuladyyoon police. Jan Mohammad Khaskheli, son of the deceased has lodged the murder case with Phuladyyoon police station and nominated as accused Khuda Bux, Sajan, Sadiq, Faisal and Brochio, all by caste Mari. Cause of the murder is said to be old enmity. However Phuladyyoon police carried out raid and apprehended one of the nominated accused Khuda Bux Mari.

MIRPURKHAS July 18. Scores of activists of Jeay Sindh Quami Mahaz district Mirpurkhas held demonstration in front of local press club to protest against anti Sindh project Zulfikarabad here on Wednesday. Led by district president Faqeer Yousuf Mangrio, vice president Mustafa Kori and general secretary Jam Munawar Sammoon, carrying banners and placards, raised slogans against the Zulfikarabad project. Addressing at the protesters leaders strongly condemned the Sindh government for launching the above anti Sindh project that will be cause of entries of outsiders. They lamented that different districts of Sindh had already been damaged of last year heavy rainfall while the roads and infrastructures had also been destroyed but rulers wanted to colonizing the outsiders in new anti Sindh project Zulfikarabad instead to reconstruct the damaged towns and villages of last year flood. They alleged that it was the deep conspiracy against Sindhi people to convert them in minority by colonizing the outsiders in above project. They rejected this project and demanded the government to invest its allocated amount in other development schemes of Sindh province.

MIRPURKHAS July 11. Commissioner Mirpurkhas division Ghulam Hussain Memon has said that aims to hold Mango exhibition at Mirpurkhas was to export more than local Mango varieties and to encourage the local growers. He was speaking as chief guest at the closing ceremony of 47th National Mango and summer fruits festival 2012 Mirpurkhas held here on Tuesday night at Mirpurkhas Gymkhana club that was attended by growers, government officials, notables etc. He said that district administration was succeeded to encourage local growers as we organized the Mango festival in befitting manner this year also. He lamented that owing to last year flood, 30 to 40 percent mango orchards had been devastated despite this we succeeded to held the Mango festival this year also with the help of owners of Mango orchards. He said that he had been recommended the secretary agriculture to make functional the modern food technology laboratory and complete the construction of Seminar hall in Sindh Horticulture research institute Mirpurkhas. Chairman organizing committee Anwer Gondal said that there was need to get real aims of this annual Mango festival. He further said that owing to last year flood mostly mango orchards and Nurseries had been destroyed and urged the authorities to provide funds to Sindh Horticulture research Institute Mirpurkhas for preparing more than Nurseries sothat local growers could cultivate their Mango orchards. He lamented that Sindh government had been imposed ban on irrigation water for Mango orchards while called the government to lift ban and ensure correctly use of irrigation water to end the water shortage in tail end areas. He said that in South Asia, above institute was prepared Qalam of Mangoes in large quantity and of different varieties of mangoes. Later, Chief Guest Commissioner Ghulam Hussain Memon and Chairman Anwer Gondal distributed the cash awards among the successful growers of different varieties of Mangoes.

MIRPURKHAS July 11. A rally was took out under the banner of population department Mirpurkhas here on Wednesday from civil hospital to local press club to mark world population day while lady health workers, Para medical staff, doctors and workers of NGOs participated . Participators carrying banners and placards, marched through main roads and reached at local press club, where addressing at the participators, deputy district population officer Nasrullah Kumhar said that health of mother remain good when time was given in birth of children and such care of children and their preparation was made in proper manner. He said that planning was being made by population department to control the growing population while civil society and media should pay their role in this regard.

MIRPURKHAS July 11. Hundreds of people of Christian community as well as other minorities held demonstration at Tandoadam Naka near Ring road here on Wednesday to protest against police failure to arrest the absconder accused of murder case landlord Faisal Kachehlo. Led by Pir Zubair Jan Sarhandi and Sarwan Bheel, carrying banners and placards they raised slogans against SSP Mirpurkhas and ex SHO Kot Ghulam Mohammad police station Inayat Zardari. Enraged protestors also blocked the ring road and burnt also tyres, while they demanded the government to take notice of police failure to nab the nominated accused of murder case Faisal Kachehlo. Pir Zubair Jan Sarhandi, Sarwan Bheel and others talking to media men accused that SSP Mirpurkhas was supporting the influential landlord Faisal Kachehlo who had been brutally killed the innocent youth Asif Masih alias Shera at kachehlo farm some days back in the limit of KGM police station but alleged that owing to support of SSP Mirpurkhas and ex SHO Inayat KGM Inayat Zardari, nominated accused was not taken into custody and provided them opportunities to flee from the region . They accused that above absconder accused had been purchased the local police and demanded the higher police authorities to ensure arresting of the above influential accused Faisal Kachehlo without any delay by deployment of impartial police parties and punish him exemplary. Later they dispersed peacefully.

MIRPURKHAS July 11. Rainfall hit the Mirpurkhas and its outskirts areas here on Tuesday night as result temperature was decreased. Report said that rainfall remained continue for an hour as result rainy water was stagnated at the various main roads and streets of the city. Power supply was suspended as the first drop of the rain fell down while power was restored after 7 hours disturbing the citizens . It may be recalled that severe hot spell was continued here for last 15 days and as the rainfall begun children and youths came out of their houses in happiness while local farmers have expressed their happiness as they were facing already acute shortage of irrigation water causing damages of their standed crops. Meanwhile, director Nara canal area water board Ghulam Mustafa Ujjan has been setup 24 hours rain emergency center at wireless control room Jamrao division office due to expected heavy rainfall and deployed also staff there.

Deputy Director Private institutions Mirpurkhas division Proff Abdul Hameed Shaikh has been cancelled the registration of different private schools of the district Mirpurkhas on violations of Sindh education department and also issued them explanation . Report said that during the holidays of hot season educational activities were found continue in following private schools on which their registrations were cancelled and issued them also explanations letters. Those schools were New crescent, Elementary school, Silicon Elementary school Satellite town, Ghazali public high school Kot Ghulam Mohammad, Hilal Public school, New Mehran Elementary school, Standard secondary and higher secondary school, Ali Elementary school, The Superior school, Akbar Academy elementary school, Tarique elementary school, prime computer middle school, Al Noor Sir Syed Memorial school, Sky Blue Elementary school and Shah Abdul Lateef Modal school.

MIRPURKHAS July 10. A minor girl was seriously injured and later died in Kot Ghulam Mohammad taluka hospital when she sustained serious bullet injuries in head while playing near a water course at village Ghulam Mohammad Bhurgari, near Degan Bhurgari town on Tuesday. Report received that Shremti Soomri, 7, d/o Chetan Bheel was playing near a water course that unknown persons hunting there of pig and as they fired to kill pig but the bullet hit her head as result she sustained serious injuries, rushed to taluka hospital Kot Ghulam Mohammad where she was provided first aid and then referred for civil hospital Mirpurkhas due to precarious condition but she died after some time there. The unknown hunters reportedly fled away from the spot after this incident. However no case of this incident was lodged with concerned police station till filing of the news .
 
MIRPURKHAS July 10. SSP Mirpurkhas Farooque Jamali has said that Town police have arrested three robbers who had robbed the passengers coach two days back in night from Ring road near Educational board Mirpurkhas. Addressing at the press conference in his office here on Tuesday, he told that SHO town police Syed Tanveer Shah carried out investigation and with the help of police Peri and foot prints of robbers conducted raid at Junejo colony and apprehended three involved robbers identified as Jan Mohammad Mari, Fateh Mohammad Mari and Faiz Mohammad Mari and recovered from their possession stolen cash about 30000 and over a dozen mobile cell phone. He further said that one of the arrested accused Jan Mohammad Mari was the son of recently retired ASI Noor Mohammad Mari, while nabbed accused Fateh Mohammad Mari belong to Khairpur Nathan Shah . He further told that case has been lodged with town police station of coach robbery. He expressed that same arrested robbers had also been robbed same coach from Satellite Town police limit in past. He said that he has been recommended to I.G. police Sindh for giving awards to SHO town and his team. He said that he has also been promoted 40 police constables as head constables whose promotions were in pending since 1996. In reply a question, he said that he had been setup special police team headed by DSP Digri for arresting of nominated accused of murder case landlord Faisal Kachehlo while another nominated accused Allah Bachayo Khokhar was arrested as they had been killed a labour Asif Masih few days ago in the limit of Kot Ghulam Mohammad police station. He further told that special police team carried out raids at Hyderabad and Karachi for arresting of accused Faisal Kachehlo but still he was atlarge while he added that he has been informed to higher authorities about the accused sothat he could not be fly to abroad.

MIRPURKHAS July 10. Zonal incharge MQM Mirpurkhas zone Fareed Ahmed Khan has said that district administration should take immediate legal action against those creating hurdles in construction of sewerage pumping station at Gulshan e Haider colony for draining out the rainy water from the big part of the city. In a press statement issued here on Tuesday, he further said that infrastructure of city Mirpurkhas had been devastated during last year heavy rainfall while stagnant rainy water had divided the city in parts and entry and exit ways were removed as result political , social and trade activities remained suspend for long time in the city but now we would saved the citizens on any cost from damages of rainfall and those persons wanted to drawn or inundate this city again under their comprehensive conspiracy would be unsuccessful. He demanded the deputy commissioner Mirpurkhas to take immediate legal action against influential personalities creating hurdles in construction of sewerage pumping station in Gulshan e Haider colony. He warned those hatching conspiracies that Haq parast masses would make each possible act for safety and rights of citizens.

MIRPURKHAS July 9. Hundreds of enraged people mostly Christian resident of Tandoadam Naka, Mirpurkhas held demonstration here on Monday at Hyderabad Mirpurkhas road near Ratanabad while they also blocked the above main road by creating hurdles and also burnt the old tyres to protest against brutally murder of youth Asif Masih alias Shera at kachelo farm in the limit of Kot Ghulam Mohammad police station by influential landlord and his henchmen. Led by Sarwan Bheel, Allah Ditta and Pir Khalid Jan Sarhandi, carrying banners and placards, placing the body of the deceased Asif Masih at main road, they were demanding the immediate arresting of the involved influential landlord and his henchmen. On this occasion, talking to newsmen Sarwan Bheel and Pir Khalid Jan Sarhandi accused that deceased was a driver and lifting the soil for filling the foundation of a under construction school of an NGO in taluka Kot Ghulam Mohammad. They accused that landlord Faisal Kachehlo and his henchmen were involved in brutally murder of the above deceased. They alleged that influential landlord Faisal Kachehlo was making efforts to save himself by assuring the police that crime was committed by his servant, while he was himself involved in brutally murder. They urged the higher authorities to ensure immediate apprehending of the above influential landlord and his henchmen. Later, on the assurance of police action against the influential landlord they dispersed peacefully and traffic was restored after two hours at the above main road.
It may be recalled that on Monday morning Allah Ditta Khokhar Masih, father of the deceased youth has lodged the murder case with Kot Ghulam Mohammad police station, accusing that his son Asif Masih alias Shera, 25, was a labor and also driver as he was lifting the soil through his tractor trolley for filling the foundation of an under construction school of an NGO on Sunday that his son Asif Masih alias Shera was brutally shot dead by accused landlord Faisal Kachehlo and Allah Bachayo Khokhar. Sources said that after this incident, KGM police reached at the spot and shifted the body to taluka hospital KGM where later, after legal formality, body was handed over to heirs of the deceased. Sources said that police have detained one of the nominated accused Allah Bachayo Khokhar, who was the servant of other nominated accused landlord Faisal Kachehlo.

MIRPURKHAS July 9. Closing ceremony of 47th National Mango and summer fruits festival 2012 Mirpurkhas was being held on Tuesday July 10th at Gymkhana club Mirpurkhas to distribute the variety awards of mangoes to successful growers and certificates under district agriculture extension department Mirpurkhas at Mirpurkhas Gymkhana club . Commissioner Mirpurkhas division Ghulam Hussain Memon will be the chief guest while Nadeemur Rehman Memon, deputy commissioner Mirpurkhas will be the special guest. Chairman Arrangement committee National Mango and summer fruits festival Mirpurkhas Mohammad Anwar Gondal told the newsman that main awards had already been distributed among successful growers in prize distribution ceremony on June 6th, 2012 while now variety awards and certificates would be distributed among over 150 successful growers.

MIRPURKHAS July 9. Crime has been increased in the city premises as a coach and two persons were deprived of their cash and bike by unknown armed robbers in the city during 24 hours. Report said that a youth Heralal Lohano was going to Rewachand Garden after drawing the cash money RS 1 and half lakhs from a local bank that near Roshan Plaza in the limit of Satellite town police armed robbers intercepted him on gun point and deprived him of cash RS 1 and half lakhs and escaped away from the spot in day light. A youth Amir was on his way at Umerkot road near SLD cotton factory that two unknown armed robbers intercepted him on gun point while they snatched his bike and a mobile cell phone and fled away on his bike from the spot. Meanwhile on Sunday night a passenger coach was going to Umerkot that near Mirpurkhas educational board at ring road, four unknown armed robbers traveling as passengers suddenly held the passengers hostage on gun point and looted cash, gold rings, wrist watches and mobile cell phones from them and escaped away. Besides a onion loaded truck was on its way from Khipro to Karachi that near Sindhri chowk at Sindhri Mirpurkhas road 6 armed dacoits intercepted the truck on gun point and kidnapped the loaded truck for unknown destination while before escaping they left the truck driver with tight hands near Old Mirpur.

MIRPURKHAS July 9. Convention of Pakistan medical technician association Sindh was held at Mirpurkhas in which formed the body of association on provincial level. According to a press release issued here on Monday. Following was the new body as President Ghulam Rasool Jalbani, chairman Mohammad Ayub Khaskheli, vice president Mohammad Saleem, vice chairman Khuda Bux Behan, general secretary Irshad Maher, Joint secretary Mehboob Ali Chohan, Press secretary Mohammad Khan Arain and Ghulam Qadir Khatyan, treasurer Abdul Jabbar Memon, while divisional coordinator Hyderabad Riaz Qadri and divisional coordinator Sukkur Alam Siaal.

MIRPURKHAS July 8. Harvesting of early new cotton crop has been started in Jhuddo, Digri and Kot Ghulam Mohammad talukas while the cotton crop was being transported to cotton and ginning factories of district Sanghar, but growers complained of getting less rate of their crop from traders. Report said that in taluka Jhuddo, Digri and KGM, harvesting of new cotton crop continued and traders were sending the crop to cotton and ginning factories of district Sanghar due to closure of cotton and ginning factories in district Mirpurkhas. According to agriculture department cotton was sowed at 40200 hectors in the district this year. Growers of taluka Jhuddo Khalid Pervez Arain, Amanullah Memon, Noor Ahmed Leghari and Abdul Sattar Arain complained to the journalists that less rate was being provided to the growers by local cotton traders due to closure of cotton and ginning factories in the district. They lamented that last year their crops had been devastated due to flood and after getting loan they again invested more than amount in cultivation of cotton and other crops but they were being provided rate RS 2600 per maund of cotton by traders that was very less and urged the government should adopt policy in the favor of growers sothat they could get reasonable prices of their crop. They alleged that rates of fertilizers, petrol, pesticide etc had been high during last some years but their crop was being purchased in less rate as result they could not cover their last year big losses. They further said that they were already facing acute shortage of irrigation water owing to being in tail end areas of Nara canal command area and water shortage was the main cause of less production of cotton and other crops. They demanded the authorities to control rates of agriculture input, end water shortage in tail end areas and ensure providing of reasonable prices of agriculture crops including cotton.



MIRPURKHAS July 7. Hundreds of employees of Mirpurkhas sugar mills workers union have demonstrated here on Saturday in front of local press club to protest against stoppage of required funds to different welfare schemes of Sindh province by workers welfare fund Islamabad. Led by Abdul Hameed Shaikh, Shareef Ahmed Shaikh, Saho Panhwer, Abdul Majeed Batt and Javed Fazal Malik, carrying banners and placards, demanding the federal government to immediately release the required funds to different welfare schemes of Sindh province from workers welfare fund Islamabad. On this occasion talking to media men, leaders Abdul Hameed Shaikh and Shareef Ahmed Shaikh lamented that federal government had been shifted RS 88 Arabs from workers welfare funds last year to fulfill deficit of Budget and RS 1 Arab provided for flood fund from same fund however, they alleged that resentment and unrest were prevailed among families of workers of Sindh owing to discriminate behavior of Federal government for last three years as families of workers of Sindh were deprived of facilities including Death grant, educational scholarships ,Jahez grant and sewing machines grant from workers welfare fund Islamabad since three years. They regretted that while welfare schemes of other provinces were regularly getting annually grant from workers welfare fund Islamabad. They expressed that more than funds were provided to workers welfare fund Islamabad from Sindh province but labours of Sindh were deprived of welfare schemes. They demanded the president Asif Ali Zardari, prime minister Raja pervez Ashraf and other higher authorities to immediately resume providing funds to welfare schemes of Sindh from workers welfare funds Islamabad without any delay and ensure providing different grants for widows of workers, educational scholarships, Jahez grant, sewing machines grant etc, to end discrimination with Sindh province and sense of deprivation of workers families.



MIRPURKHAS July 7. President Awami Tehreek Ayaz Lateef palijo has expressed deep concern over the government plan Zulfikarabad and termed it anti Sindh project while he warned that if it was implemented by government without out wishes of Sindhi people then massive resistance will be made even roads of whole Sindh province would be blocked. He was speaking at the Sindh friends rally taken out here on Saturday from Ratanabad to Newtown in which thousands of people including women participated. Participators carrying banners and placards marched through main roads, while raising slogans Sindhi Jago Sindhi Jago. He said that on May 22, at Karachi, massacre was made of innocent people in Sindh friends rally and he demanded the leaders of MQM to hand over persons involved in this massacre to police.
He further said that chief minister says that those opposing Zulfikarabad project were not wanted the progress of Sindh province and such he (chief minister) was speaking language of ex president Tikka Khan who had asked that we wanted the land of Bangal but not wanted Bungali people. Regarding the Anti Thal canal project, he said that PPP was supporting to his organization when we were struggling against Anti Thal Canal project but after coming in power, it had handed over whole Sindh to terrorists. He lamented that recently state terrorists had been killed innocent youths at Jamshoro and Dadu. He lamented that law and order condition of Sindh was more deteriorated and people were feeling insecure themselves owing to terrorists activities . He demanded the government to establish University, medical college and industries at Mirpurkhas.

MIRPURKHAS July 4. Superintendent of police Headquarter Mirpurkhas Syed Wasi Haider Shah has claimed that police have arrested absconder accused of heinous crimes Noman alias Raggo Baloch from fruit farm road on Wednesday morning and recovered from his possession a unlicensed Pistol and 5 bullets while he was the member of Naeem Baloch gang. Addressing at a press conference here on Wednesday, he further said that detained absconder Noman alias Raggo was wanted of Mirpurkhas police in 10 cases of heinous crimes including dacoities, robberies, attempt to murder etc. he further told that Naeem Baloch gang was comprised about 10 criminals while four of them Asghar Taliban, Akhtar alias Choto Baloch, Shahid and Shakir, all belong to Karachi and were still at large. While ring leader Naeem Baloch and Amir Lashari had been killed in encounter at Tandoadam road few months back. Javed alias Akhtar Tedi, Abid Alias Habo and Yaseen Bangali were in district prison. SP told that two days back when four teenaged robbers were fleeing after committing robbery in house at scheme no ii, Satellite town police apprehended the four robbers identified as Imran, Shoaib , Ahmed and Kashif and recovered from them stolen cash money, cell phone and illegal arms. He claimed that one of them Shoaib was wanted to Mirpurkhas police in 5 heinous crimes including dacoities and attempt to murder. He expressed that police were making efforts to recover from them stolen booty sothat during court proceeding they might be awarded exemplary punishment by court.


MIRPURKHAS July 4. Commissioner Mirpurkhas division Ghulam Hussain Memon has said that Sindh chief minister Syed Qaim Ali Shah had strictly been directed to remove immediately illegal encroachments from Puran Dhoro to ensure draining out the water of expected heavy rainfall and flood from it without any hurdle. Talking to newsmen here on Wednesday in his office with a delegation of local media men, he said that factory and some houses were constructed in Puran Dhoro for which directives were issued to director settlement survey and survey superintendent to take legal action by conducting survey and according to the government record and added that if those would be declared officially illegal encroachments would be removed before rainfall. He said that Chief Minister urged to construct box culvert for draining out the rainy water. In reply a question, he said that there was a scheme of pumping station of RS 3 and half crors of MNA quota in Gulshan Tauheed but masses have wises to construct public park there. He said that during last year heavy rainfall , ring dyke was established to save the city Mirpurkhas in taluka Hussain Bux Mari that was being strengthen till 6 feet high sothat flood water might not be enter into the city during expected rainfall . He further said that a 30 feet deep well was digged out in district Umerkot by which rainy water will be drain out in Shakoor lake. He said that directives had been given to XEN drainage division Mirpurkhas Anwer Narai to lift immediately debris of demolished illegal encroachments from Puran Dhoro near Jhuddo town. He said that 41 breaches were plugged in different canals and LBOD drains in Mirpurkhas division while added that irrigation department had provided him report regarding completion of 90 percent work of desilting and strengthening of banks of LBOD drains and canals but on his personal site visits found that only 75 percent work was completed for which concerned departments were issued directives to complete work without any delay.
